Good afternoon Science Olympiad Coaches!
We hope that the Winter Break provided you all with an opportunity to rest and prepare for the New Year. As we return to our regular schedules, we are officially in the lead up to the UC Irvine Orange County Science Olympiad on Saturday, February 14th!

You can also view if your Certificate of Insurance (COI) has been received on this spreadsheet. The risk management team is currently reviewing all COI’s and we appreciate your patience as we await confirmation from them.
If you have not submitted a Certificate of Insurance or Team Roster, please send it to ocregionalscioly@uci.edu with the subject line “School Name COI” as soon as possible.
Self Scheduled Events – ESUS Orange County Regional (https://esus.socalscioly.org/home.php?tid=319)
- We will be using the ESUS system for coaches to sign up for time slots for the following events:
- Boomilever B/C
- Helicopter B/C
- Hovercraft B/C
- Mission Possible B
- Scrambler B
- Bungee Drop C
- Electric Vehicle C
- Robot Tour C
- A separate email will be sent in the coming days with your login information for the ESUS system
The system will open for signups on Wednesday, January 28th at 4PM and will remain available until Wednesday, February 11th at 4PM.
Team Member and Alternates Policies
Each team is allowed 15 team members to compete in all official events. We will distribute 15 wristbands to each team to designate their competitor status. Students are required to wear these to their event rooms, or they will not be allowed to compete. B teams will be given blue wristbands, and C teams will be given yellow wristbands.
Teams may designate alternates in their school principal signed roster. Additionally, they must have waivers on file.
Please bring your most up to date Team Roster on the day of the tournament.
Liability Waiver
- UCI requires that all students complete the UCI Liability Waiver form before competing. You do not need to scan the waiver, as we have access to the form and can view if your student has completed them.
- Please make sure your team has completed the waiver otherwise they will not be able to participate. It is up to you as the coach to ensure that everyone has submitted their waiver.
Required Forms
- Team Roster and Certification (1 per team)
- Certificate of Insurance (1 per school)
- Chaperone Form (There must be 1 chaperone (over the age of 21) per every 8 students)
- UC Liability Waiver (1 per student)
- Parents/guardians MUST sign the UC Liability Waiver for their student who is participating. Waivers completed by students will not be accepted.
